SSAA Sydney Branch is the largest sporting shooter and hunting club in the southern hemisphere with over 37,000 across the Sydney metropolitan area. We have multiple ranges across Sydney for rifle and pistol shooting. We'd love you to join our team.

The Range Officer at SSAA Sydney is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the shooting range, maintaining compliance with relevant regulations, and providing a high standard of customer service to members and visitors. This includes overseeing range activities, firearm handling, range maintenance, and facilitating Try Shoot bookings for prospective shooters.

Role Responsibilities:

●        Supervise all range activities, ensuring strict adherence to SSAA safety protocols and relevant legislative requirements.

●        Conduct safety briefings and oversee the safe handling and use of firearms by all participants.

●        Assist in managing the movement of firearms in and out of storage, maintaining accurate records.

●        Facilitate Try Shoot sessions, including booking management, participant registration, and providing guidance on firearm handling and range rules.

●        Ensure all participants in Try Shoot sessions complete necessary documentation and comply with safety regulations.

●        Maintain and set up range infrastructure, including target systems and competition facilities.

●        Perform routine inspections and minor maintenance of range facilities, firearms, and targetry.

●        Collect fees and manage attendance records for range users.

●        Respond to inquiries from members, visitors, and clubs regarding range services and regulations.

●        Work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers to ensure smooth operation of range activities.

Key Selection Criteria:

●        Current Firearms License (Cat. A/B & H)

●        SSAA Sydney Branch member (or willing to become a member)

●        Current NSW Class C Driver’s License.

●        Ability to work weekends and evenings as required.

●        Successful completion of a National Criminal Records Check.

●        Experience in range operations and firearm handling preferred.
