SPIKA is an outdoor company that designs, manufactures, imports and distributes quality outdoor gear to tackle any adventure. Specialising in but not limited to apparel, accessories, safes, sport shooting accessories and camping gear across the outdoor and sport shooting industry – supplying retailers domestically throughout Australia, New Zealand and the world.

About the role

A great opportunity for an individual that has a passion for the outdoors with proven experience across the product development cycle to take on the development of Spika branded products; from idea generation & design utilising our existing field and industry experts through to sourcing and the manufacturing of products.

This role will see the successful candidate working across the full range of Spika branded products in multiple categories throughout the product development life cycle. With a strong focus on our core product categories in clothing and apparel.

While this role is expected to be autonomous you will become a part of the wider product development team across Spika with its years of combined knowledge and experience.


The key responsibility of this role is ‘end to end’ development, including but not limited to:

  • Create product designs as required.
  • Collaborate with field specialists and design teams to identify and execute on forthcoming ranges.
  • Compile complete tech packs, bill of materials and technical specifications to factories.
  • Accurately complete size and grading specifications for apparel items.
  • Create and manage product development tasks to ensure that timelines are met.
  • Nurture professional relationships with factories and suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing & quality with suppliers.
  • Accurately calculate estimated landed and wholesale prices.
  • Monitor and implement quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintain online product specification manuals and documentation.
  • Monitor inventory & manage stock alerts.


  • Knowledge of outdoor fabric specs and technical adventure textiles (more specifically, waterproofing membranes, layering systems, breathable textiles and specialist active sports fabrics).
  • At least 3 years experience in a similar role.
  • Strong communication, design, skills required .
  • Clear and precise written and oral communications.
  • Ability to manage processes to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Eager to adapt and learn varying product categories subject to development (ie. textiles, accessories, hardware, sports shooting/camping accessories).
  • Proficient excel and adobe creative suite skills.
  • Exceptional eye for design, detail and quality.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
