The Freight Co-Ordinator’s primary focus will be to optimize logistic operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective transportation of goods both nationally and abroad.

This role reports directly to the Warehouse Manager.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Organise and schedule transportation of goods, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  • Source and negotiate the best freight rates for bulky shipments, including contracts with freight carriers, and monitor carrier performance.
  • Analyse freight costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities as well as tracking freight expenditures.
  • Address shipment delays and other issues that may arise in the logistics process.
  • Maintain and present accurate monthly reports to the Warehouse Manager on freight performance and costs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards related to freight transportation.
  • Arrange container drop-off and collections.
  • Practise and ensure safe work practices in a safe working environment within company OH&S policies and procedures.
  • Additional ad-hoc duties as requested by the Warehouse Supervisor.
Key Selection Criteria:
  • Previous experience as a Freight Co-Ordinator or in a similar logistics role is required.
  • Strong understanding of freight management processes and transportation regulations
  • Ability to negotiate rates and contracts with carriers.
  • Effective communication to interact with stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify issues, proactivity, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics software and tools.
  • Forklift licence is highly regarded.
  • Firearms licence and industry/firearms experience preferred, but not necessary.
